Keanu Reeves movie to film in Shepperton
SHEPPERTON Studios has won planning permission to build an external film set for Keanu Reeves' new film 47 Ronin.
Members of the Planning Committee at Spelthorne Borough Council voted unanimously on Wednesday April 27 to approve the retrospective application to use the backlot site of the studios as an external film set for the period of six months.
The studios have until the end of October 2011 to complete the filming, despite the fact there is already a substantial structure on the site.
As reported by the Herald & News in March, Shepperton Studios deferred a planning application submitted to Spelthorne Borough Council after it was recommended for refusal.
The latest application was approved at a meeting held at the Spelthorne Borough Council Offices in Knowle Green on Wednesday, April 27.
A Shepperton resident, who did not want to be named, said: “It looks like the studios had special circumstances to be approved. They are doing very well and generating business for Britain. Many of the productions they have in this year and last year are big productions from the States, and American money coming in to our economy is great.”
